The phone rang at 6am on Tuesday morning, a recording saying that school was closed. There was ice on the roads so we got to stay home.
Kylie and Emily had both crawled in bed with us about an hour earlier so we were all warm and toasty. I whispered in Kylie's ear that there was no school, she said "YES" and went back to her slumber.
I laid awake for awhile and wondered what we would do......maybe a fort..... in the living room. When I was a kid we did this alot and loved it. Finally I went back to sleep for a while enjoying the thought of not having to get up till we were darn good and ready.
We ate breakfast and then I told them the news about the fort and they were SOOOO excited.
I got out a sheet and we hooked it to the top of the TV cabinet and then moved the couch up enough we could clip it to the back. It was perfect. The fireplace was on and we put lots of blankets on the couch. We decided to rent "Horton hears a Who" from On Demand. We all snuggled up and watched the movie and just enjoyed being together. Kylie made us a snow day word search on the computer too. She loves that kinda stuff, she and Emily played school for awhile after the movie. Emily did all kinds of math problems, anything Kylie could work up on the computer. All in all it went pretty well, a few fights did break out but nothing I couldn't handle.

I was glad there was no school, really.... last Sat. afternoon Emily's eye was super red and I was suspecting pink eye. yuck! On Monday morning first thing I took her to the Dr. and sure enough it was. GREAT! I hate for either of them to miss school especially for something like this.
I figured on Tues. she could go back but she woke up with it in her other eye. So I was glad she was not missing school, just got to stay home anyway. She is still home today and I'm hoping after all of today's drops she will be back tomorrow. She's been playing games on webkinzs, watching movies and practicing telling time in a little workbook she got for Christmas. She's pretty easy to hang out with.
